Options for cull cows

Scanned the cows today. 16% empty after 10 weeks breeding. ( pulled bulls out because a lot of replacements coming in next year)
I have the potential to run 15-20% over quota if I milked everything on as usual. And I have a lot of replacement heifers coming on next year. Grass position looks good for the back end of the year.
Do I get rid of them now or hold and fatten for dec.

One of the things I was thinking of doing was to move the empty cows to OAD and start feeding them 4-5 kgs of nuts in the parlour. And get rid of them to the factory mid November. The rest of the herd are on 1/2kg at the moment.
    Any suggestions mart/factory/fatten

I sell in the field as I cull but I know a guy who does what you're suggesting and loves it. Quota and grass for milkers and other stock must be considered though

I had four cows that didn't calve this season and were in milk for 500 plus days- went to factory with them this morning as they were dropping below 25litrws a day
Brought another one that came bulling yesterday- no need for empties around here and her scc avg over 350 so she was loaded up as well
To cut a long story short they avg 780 which I was really happy with

Didn't cost me a penny as they were earning their keep and sent them straight out of the parlour

The oad And 4 to 5 kg nuts is a good plan ,but don't put yourself under pressure for grass for remaining herd.solids will be very good for those girls and you can flog them straight from the parlour in mid November.

I dry them off 1st dec and store them outside if possible and then2 give them a month of early grass with the heifers.mart them then sometime early march and fellas are nearly jumping into the ring to buy them.no big meal bill and you get super thrive out the out wintered cow on early grass.the money is fierce handy that time of year

Bloody well under quota here, but running abit shy on grass! Have afew empties that are only knocking out 17/20l, hard to know should I up the meal more for all the milkers and milk them on, or just flog them soon?
