Have a bee in me bonnet today over THIS

Earlier it was shut down coz the "big stations" weren't getting enough votes and they were calling shennanigans on the fact that a wee local radio station on the border was topping the poll.

This has really pissed me off as it is symbolic of what is wrong with this country. A hard working true community man who presents a fun, entertaining and REAL radio show in the mornings is being kept down by some pampered big waged ego's.

So help the underdog, show that Ireland is still moralistic and supports true hardwork and vote for The Breakfast Roll on Northern Sound.

I have a lot of respect and time for Ian Dempsey and I do give him a listen but him and the other bigwigs feel like it is their due to win things like this and some totally disregard the efforts of others.

Here is some of what was being said on Twitter

Not only that Frada, he is so involved in his community. If you are running a charity or fundraising event Sean steps up and does MC for you, promotes it on his show and on other shows and all without asking for a penny.

When I worked at Monaghan United FC Sean, despite having been on the air at ungodly O'clock in the morning would come out to our games, record interviews with the managers, do live feeds to the other shows broadcasting on NS and occasionally do the match announcements. We asked him to put together a cd of songs with an advertisement for our games to be played over at the Astro pitches and he did it no bother. We asked him to be MC at our white collar boxing event, no problem.

He not only speaks to the community every morning, he speaks for them. He works his socks off and shows a passion beyond what is called for. He deserves this.

Gag. I hate community minded radio presenters. Fuck them and fuck my community.

It actually did annoy me the attitude and the way the poll was shut down for a while just because it is a small local station in the lead.

Here's a sample of Sean getting passionate about the Monaghan Minor team as they won the Ulster title. You can't fake this kinda passion.

G'wan give the wee underdog a vote.

So you want to rig a poll even further because the first attempts were unsuccessful?

Nope, not rigging it, just spreading the word about how when genuine fans voted they closed the poll and encouraging those who enjoy Sean to vote!

Wow beating next closest by 100 votes at the moment! :D

I usually hate 'vote for this' threads or whatever, but I voted because 99% of radio shows are pure rubbish.

We accept mediocrity too much in this country.

For everyone that lauds Ireland as a land of talented writer's etc, we haven't a creative bone in RT-f*cking-E or on radio for that matter.

Nova is pure rubbish in the morning. They should rename that station WeLovePinkFloydFM. I f*cking hate Pink Floyd, but even if I didn't I'd be sick of hearing about them at this stage.

Phantom in the morning is boring as hell.

I like Ian Dempsey, but the show is boring as sh!t.

I wouldn't listen to Spin, 104 or 2fm if you paid me.

    /rant.

I appreciate your enthusiasm Witchie, and I do love to stick it to the man from time to time, but I've never heard your morning show so I can't vote for it. I usually just listen to my own music in the morning or read.

I cannot receive Highland, Phantom or Northern Sound or local Dublin stations (among others) as I have only an old-fashioned AM/FM/LW radio which, on FM, can pick up only National stations or local (South-east). I am, obviously, one of those Cavemen that Minister Rabbitte mentioned in his interview regarding the proposed broadcasting licence (or whatever it's called) so I can, in all conscience, vote only for programmes I can receive. Sorry Witchie.
