New Tax Laws?

Whats the story with these new tax laws? I have a car that's been off the road all summer and I got it fixed up so I can use it in September when I'm back in college.

I've been told conflicting stories regarding it that I'll have to tax it for at least 3 months just gone and others saying I do it as normal.

Any help on this is much appreciated, Not paid until the start of the September so taxing it right now is not an option :(

Print of form rf100a and bring it to local Garda station. Get Guard to stamp it.
Being it to tax office and pay from September.
Do it on Sunday so your not liable for August tax.
