We're looking for a solicitor on the North Side, and wondered if there are any recommendations and also any guides on prices.

The first quote was €2,250 broken down as €950 + VAT 23%, plus land fees of €600, registration fees of €175.00, folio of €40, search fees of €80.00 and commissioners fees of €24.00.. the missing €162.50 she couldn't explain.

The second quote was €2,615, broken down as follows; Professional fees €1,000 and sundry €65 plus VAT, Land fees €600 Registration fees €175 Folio fees €40, planning search €50, closing search €375, commissioners fees €60, printing €5.

It looks as though the land fees, registration fees and folio are standard, but the rest?

The solicitors fee is the only variable as you stated the land registry is standard.
My advice is to put the work in. Spend 2 hours calling as many solicitors as possible. The variation is price is unreal sometimes so you could save yourself a good couple of hundred euro

We are seeking quotes from a couple of solicitors for house purchase. One quoted Land Registry fees of €700 and the other quoted €220 if the property is registered in the registry of deeds or €450 if its registered in the land registry. Is it normal to have a difference here between solicitors or should the fee be the same regardless of solicitor? Also the first one above quoted €109 for search fees and the other said €70.
