How quick can you open a current account?

Hi All- Just wondering how quick you can have a new current account up and running, if you walk into a branch with all the relevant info, can you have have an active account that day? Cheers:)

Yes, any time I have opened an account it has been opened the same day and then debit card delivered within 7 days.

BOI will open it and give you the sort code and account number on the spot. But take for ages for the card to arrive( they are out sourced to the uk). AIB has the cards issued very quickly and are a better bank overall.
