I am from Celbridge, Co.Kildare. Recently lost my job as Sales Assistant in SuperValu, Celbridge. Wasn't my fault, reason: "shop is too quite, unfortunately no job for you". A bit disappointed, because it was convenient as I live in Celbridge and I could cycle to work, since I have no car. I am responsible and punctual guy, couldn't expect this..
I need some advice of local people who lives in: Celbridge,Lucan,Leixlip,Maynooth. Where could I apply at the moment? I would like to work as sales assistant or other physical but not monotonous job, preferably in Celbridge.
Please help me if you know any information, I would appreciate!

    Best Regards,
    Eugene

What jobs interest you? You may need to widen the net outside shop work? Very difficult to get into shop work even part time without experience but if they quiet what can you do but look else where. Ring up or go to shops in person that be near you or cycle too. Have cv to hand.

Well I did landscaping before, I liked it, but it's sometimes physically hard job and the wages are not pleasing. Window cleaning is profitable, but hard to find clients, and previous ones ask to clean windows rarely now. I wish to get part time or full time in tesco, that is close to me, but they didn't answer my mail. I guess they have enough workers.
I would do many jobs, if it close to celbridge or in celbridge, and it has normal stable roster with not less than 24hrs per week
Thanks for advice, I might show up on few places and hand them my cv

If you are looking for Retail work I would suggest start searching around Dublin City because retail work is very hard to come by now . I would also recommend trying Lidl and Aldi they always seem to on the search for staff .

Thats bad about your job Eugene. I live in Lucan and travel to Celbridge a fair bit. Sure it only opened a month ago! Maybe those 3 brothers are not the best to work for. So much for all the PR.

Obviously things are not great generally in retail. Not everybody is lucky to have a job close to home. I don't work in retail, but I packed a job in once, 20 minutes walk from home, I hated the work/job. I have also had other jobs with an hour commute or so and loved the job, so an enjoyable job is better rather than a quick cycle etc. Try Liffey Valley as its on a bus route from Celbridge. You may have to think more about commuting by bus, even into city centre. Put " learning to drive" on a list of things to do, I started to learn to drive when I was your age, but packed it in. Ability to drive would increase your options long-term even if you can't afford a car at the moment and lack of driving ability has restricted my job applications over the years.

firstly, thanks for your time, writing detailed response!
Went back to my previous job in landscaping, boss called me since he heard that I lost job, but it will be only part time. Meanwhile while I was unemployed these few weeks, I applied for social allowance, but they rejected, reason that I haven't got Live Register for at least 312 days, even though I was working officially since October 2011, that's more than 300days, so that's sad that they rejected, I will try to figure out, how come...
Also, I've been practicing driving with my ADI Instructor, and made 11 lessons already, getting prepared now for test in near future, lets hope I won't run short on money, due to part time...
