Have a banjaxed old car that we want to get moved to a family friend to check it out. Can't drive it as it just keeps over heating. Local garage can't seem to find the problem and said opening it up could end up costing a fortune.
Anyone know of a company in Leinster that will move a car about 1.5/2 hours away and what kinda price ?? Thanks.

Surely there's a recovery guy within easy reach?

Is towing an option? Not recommended in city or main roads of course.
There's tonnes of recovery trucks about, ring a few local companies and get a quote.

recovery may cost a bit tbh

is it worth repairing the car ?

what age and make/model is it ?

what work did the loacl garage do, overheating can be from a few different things, blocked rad/head gasket/electricial etc

Well if we could get the car moved cheaply enough I would like our guy to check it out. It's a fiesta 98 yes v old but never had a problem with it and local garage said its not head gasket but could be a blockage somewhere as coolant not getting anywhere.
Could be opened up and then be a myriad of problems and that's fine at least we would know then. However if we only had to pay a couple of hundred for a minor fix and it lasted another year it would be worth it for us.
    Thanks

thermostat could be knackered, it might be best to get a mobile mechanic look at it and see what he says cost of towing a car near on 2 hours would be a lot me thinks

Go to any big auto factors and buy a rigid towing arm and then get someone with a tow bar to take it to your mechanic. It'll be cheaper than paying someone to so it.

Although I can't see how it could be worth fixing a 98 fiesta.

Are you looking to get rid of the car altogether?
Are you looking for money for it?
Ring a local scrap yard and ask what they'll give you. They might collect as well.
Alternatively if they're charging you for it pop it up on done deal for 100 quid.
Or if you're not bothered with cash offer it free to someone to collect.

Scrap yard will offer 100 euro at least
Considering its age, no NCT (presumed) cost to repair coolant issue etc etc... it may be more of a lability.

If your also adding towing charges it be cheaper to pick up something else
