I got one of those grab one deals e-mails. There was a course on 3d modelling so I went to look at their site

Considering they are meant to run courses on IT and media courses I have to say the website just screams out that they don't have much skill in the area. Anybody else come across websites that make you think worse of the company?

That has to be a scam. It's just not possible that's a real commercial website...

Unfortunately no. They have real billboard signs around Dublin too along with the fact the reason I went to the site was down to a Grab One voucher offer.

I particularly love the fact the images aren't sized right and it has an array of different fonts.

    From their source -

    <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Parallels Plesk Sitebuilder 4.5.0">

I havent seen marquee text since the days of Frontpage 2003! :pac:

That website seems to only have one page... if it has more, then where the fook is the navigation menu??

Also the home page alone uses 947 lines of HTML code...

    Dear god.

That actually isn't the code for MARQUEE - the html code for that is <marquee>Scrolling text</marquee>

Which can be done here :
<marquee behavior="slide" direction="left">Your slide-in text goes here</marquee>
(which I can't seem to make it work under php BB codes :( )

What you highlighted there is an alternative for Frontpage :P http://www.parallels.com/products/plesk/sitebuilder/

They will teach you reel good. ;)

It has other pages. You should check the terms and condition page which for some reason is positioned at the top of the page on it's own.

Any site that has a spelling/grammar error puts me right off. I'm no grammar nazi but from a business point of view, it looks SO unprofessional and screams of shoddy work.

Scroll down the page (try and ignore the fact that the fonts are all different sizes and weights), and there are the "More Info" clipart graphics links beside the text.

This was one of the major criticisms of Frontpage - it had far too much bloated code which made rendering on a 56k connection verrrrry slow!

The source code of that site is criminally shit.

I got a CV from a graduate saying how they were great at testing and coding. They included links to examples of his work. Spelling mistakes all over it and it had scripting errors on opening the page. Needless to say he wasn't called for an interview but we thought about letting him know why but decided not to.

    ah man, It's shocking!

If we are gonna slag the site, Might as well evaluate it properly:)

    - Site does not present itself correctly - User experience rating - terrible
    - Ease of navigation - using pictures / gif are a terrible way to show you have other pages on the site ( I found more pictures acting as menu navigation that lead to different parts of the website ...so 1995 )
    - Source code alone as pointed out is bloated, does not contain correct tags and html referes and adding <meta> continuously is not the way to get yourself into SEO - at least add some keywords!
    - Layout overall is shocking - Page is misaligned, content is scattered, presentation - MS Paint would have done a better job.
    - This is meant to be a business website? I thought this site looked like one of the old Geocity sites....

    - I could rant n rave a little more about this website - But I want the rest of ye to provide your opinions :)

Yes I know that, but I was highlighting the fact that around that time, almost every page done in Frontpage, the coder used marquee text, it was abominable and distracting.

That was it, lol, your memory is far more accurate, I just used always use Notepad :D

Even now though, and I've said it on here before, sometimes I have to delve into other people's code, and it can be bloody head melting! :(

I think it was powershítty got a special mention on here before for their equally crappy website layout and navigation.

Yeah, we'll just say I'm a little bit OCD with Technology and web dev as I do a bit of it myself.

There is a brilliant website though that finds all the cr2p websites out there and erm, reviews them himself :D

Aye I agree. I mean its doesn't actually cost that much just to get a domain and email, You can get it fairly cheap and probably more reliable too!

But here... Try telling a business that lol

Worst still is when you do all that stuff and find they won't send it to here. And having to do all the signing up to find the postal costs even if they do send here.
