    Hope someone can help here; we are thinking of swapping from SKY to UPC, but I want to double check if we subscribe separately to Setanta that I can watch all of the F1 including practice rounds Live ( not 'edited highlights' or 'delayed coverage') The Setanta guy claims yes but I want 100% confirmation

    I don't know if they show the practice, I would have thought not. Overall Setanta coverage while not terrible (because they're using the BBC commentary), it's very lazy, they basically turn on the BBC feed for the race, show ads throughout and then stop the show right after the race.

    I think they only show one practice session on a Friday.

    They do show the FP sessions, but they're usually delayed & shown at 10pm for FP1, because they use their prime hours to show football matches from the early nineties etc.

    You're in for a huge shock switching from Sky F1 to Setanta, be prepared for:

    1) Ads during live Quali sessions, & then five minutes of silence in the break between sessions {of course they could play the ads then but that'd make too much sense}
    2) Ads during the race {often at crucial moments}
    3) Ads
    4) Coverage stopping mid podium, in order to play air said 20 year old football matches.
    5) Practice sessions shown at all hours
    6) Overall a terrible, terrible way to enjoy an F1 weekend.

    The Beeb have half the races, so it's not all doom & gloom. My advice, find a friend who has the sports package & doesn't use Sky GO ;)

    That was the worst thing about the Setanta coverage I watched. They took the ad break just as the first round of pit stops were happening and when they came back the field was completely different, everyone had swapped places and it took a few minutes to figure it all out again.

    I heard BBC were dropping F1 next year though.

    Yeah often I find myself completely lost & 'out of the zone' after an ad break, takes a few mins to fix everything in your head. There's never really a good time for breaks during a race, but I have to hand it to Setanta, they sure pick crucial moments to do it.

    I'm not sure how accurate that is yet, tis only a rumor for the mo :)
