    Hi all,

Thanks to some help from those of you in this forum, I ordered a new media editing PC from Hardwareversand last week and it's currently somewhere over the Irish Sea, due for delivery tomorrow evening.

One quick question. Before ordering, HWVS told me that the cooling system I ordered couldn't be fitted to the PC due to potential damage it could cause in transit. I opted to have it shipped to me and fit it myself.

Can anyone advise how big/difficult a job this is, or what I'll need to do it? My experience with building a PC is extremely limited, which is why I opted to have HWVS do the build for me.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

It's pretty simple. Follow the instructions and you should be fine. It might take you 30 mins to figure it out but you'll be flying it after that. All you're doing is mounting a lump of metal onto your CPU and tightening it via a plate on the back of your motherboard. :)

here you go...Just follow the instructions

    :D:D
It will be easy enough...just take it easy on the thermal paste.. less is good

It's gonna be a lot harder putting that on when the board is already inside of the case.

It's not the easiest cooler in the world to install.

That's what I was afraid of. Any advice?

Take it out of the case! What case is it? Does it have a cutout at the back for the mounting bracket?

None of the order has arrived yet, so I don't know. There's a link to the fan itself at the start of the thread. This is the case.

    Hi guys!

The PC arrived today and I'm having problems figuring out how to fit the heat sink to the processor. Does anyone have any advice or is anyone possibly available to give me some tips over the weekend? I realise it's a long shot but any help would be great. Cheers.

It's in German but here's a video guide.

Thanks very much for that. I've now managed to get the heat sink and fan fitted and made my first attempt to boot the machine and it's giving absolutely no sign of life. I asked HWVS to put the machine together and as far as I can tell they've done so. There are a few spare cables inside the machine that aren't connected but they all seem to labelled for extra drives. Everything that needs to be connected is wired up as far as I can tell. I'm now starting to panic.

Is there anywhere in Dublin that can take a look at it, or anyone I can call about this?

Is the switch on the back of the psu turned on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭The_Illuminator

It is. Flipped it a couple of times are tried booting again but there's no signs of life whatsoever. I was very careful about static while fitting the fan too so I've got no idea how it might have been damaged (if it is)

The European to UK adapter I'm using isn't the most expensive, just an old one I had around the house. Any idea if that could that be the issue?

Going to buy a better adapter now, will update when I get back.

Both the 24pin and 4/8pin are connected to the mobo?

Case power switch is connected correctly to the mobo?

Can you not use a standard kettle cord for the PSU?

send some pics if you can and someone here might be able to diagnose the problem

Got it fixed, thanks folks. It was the adapter in the end, it wasn't approved for such a high voltage so a new one sorted it.

Now just to get around changing the language on Windows from German to English!

Thanks again for all the help from everyone here, very much appreciated. You guys are great.

    Goto
Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region---Systemsteuerung \ Zeit, Sprache und Region

    Then under
    Region Language---Region Sprache

Then this for drop down menu
    Change location---Standort ändern

Thats using google translate so hope its accurate.
There probably an easier way to do it but i dont know it :D
