I'm considering switching back to yourselves for the Dual ValueSaver package, but I've a couple of questions first if you could answer them please?

    - Regard to the billing, are both bills issues bi-monthly and what dates are they billed, can it be changed?
    - How long after the billing date are the direct debits taken out?
    - How long is the contract?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Ziycon,

Thank you for your interest in Electric Ireland. Answers to your questions are as follows:

Yes, billing is every second month for each fuel. There is no set date for either; the issuing of each bill is dependent on when ESB Networks reads the electricity meters and Bord Gáis Networks reads the gas meters. But there is a period of approximately two months between bills - 60 to 65 days usually.

Direct debits are taken out two weeks after the issue date of the bill. Customers who pay by direct debit can make payments into their account(s) between bills, so long as they use electronic means only (paying by debit card on our website/online banking - see details on this list of payment methods on our website) and allow sufficient time (five working days) between their final payment into their account and the direct debit collection (in order to prevent payment cross-over).

The contract would be until 30th September, 2014. For customers who are on this plan and who change supplier (not address) before this date, a €50 exit fee would apply.

The Dual ValueSaver is for both electricity and gas, and entitles the customer to an 8% discount off the units used on each fuel (direct debit is mandatory) and a further 2% off the units used on each fuel for registering for online billing. More details are here on our website.

Do let us know if you require further assistance, Ziycon.

    Regards,
    Una

With the two different packages on the above page, the first one dual valuesaver is a maximum of 10% discount, is this in total of gas/elec combined?

As the seconded option dual green gives you a maximum of 6% discount on elec and 10% on gas so a maximum combined discount of 16%.

Just look to clarify if this is correct?!

    Hi Ziycon,

The Dual ValueSaver comprises a 10% discount off each fuel rather than a total of 10% overall - so it's 10% and 10%.

8% off electricity units used (direct debit mandatory) plus a further 2% off units used, for having online billing.
8% off gas units used (direct debit mandatory) plus a further 2% off units used, for having online billing.

The savings for this would exceed the savings for Dual Green, because, as you note, Duel Green comprises a 6% discount off electricity and a 10% discount off gas.

Do let us know if you would like further assistance.

    Regards,
    Una
