audio interface hdtv

    hi i am looking to mix on a laptop outputting by hdmi to a hdtv and through an audio interface to headphones. Will the laptop continue to send audio to the tv via hdmi. If not could i loop the main stereo output back in through the mic in on the laptop and then on through the hdmi ...i have looped this way when recording internet radio on audacity. Basically the tv is my amp and speakers but can only be wired via hdmi and then the audio interface will wire my headphones.

    The laptop and audio interface have not been purchased yet so are open to change if that helps my situation, sound card or whatever specs.

    If you are sending the video signal via hdmi are you going to be connecting the audio interface via USB or from the headphone socket on your laptop? I'd imagine if the interface is USB only there may be a conflict with the audio going through the HDMI in that you may have to disable it.

    The audio interface will be connected via usb so ideally what i want is for the interface to at least output cue channel to headphones and for the hdmi to continue sending video with master audio to the tv.

    I'd have my doubts as to whether this would work. The mixing software would have to be able to see the HDMI connection as an audio output and assign it to the master channel. I'd say you could end up with both master and cue going through the HDMI. I'm open to correction on this but looks like it's a 'suck it and see' scenario, unless someone else has here has tried it.

    Looks like i will be able to do it with virtual dj's own software as it has an option to rout with two soundcards at once....bit off playing around to do when i get the equipment. Thanks for your time lads.....
