Eye contact

Is anyone like me and if you catch someone's eye in passing you look away really quick? Yet the person continues to be looking if I look back at them. Maybe I'm paranoid but why do I think it's polite to look away really quick yet the other person doesn't.

don’t you think it’s inappropriate to look away when someone is looking at you?

I don't mean when having a conversation. I mean just walking down a street or corridor and a stranger is passing

Happens to me all the time, but I'm incredibly good-looking. It's only really an issue if it turns into a staring contest. Then you're obliged to shout at them "Its on!" and leap at them like you're a monkey, until they either hug you or they run away.

I guess it can be slightly weird. It happens to me too - I think some people just think it's only polite to look away while other people stand there and think "Ah sure well I've been caught now - in for a penny in for a pound!"

I find it really uncomfortable though making eye contact! Guess I'm just a weirdo!

So I should keep looking at them? Even though I don't know them?
