Oh good god, plaid is in again. Never, ever, not even when I'm 102, will I ever wear plaid again after my woejus school uniform skirt (scarred for life!)

On the bright side, lots of lovely drapey asymmetric coats, and some nice knit dresses. That's me sorted!

Do knitted dress go out of shape? I've never bought one but imagine them getting a large baggy bum :D

I have a gorgeous wool mix one from Great Plains, bought in 2009 and still going strong, not at all baggy-of-bum! Important to reshape when wet of course but if it's well cut in the first place with decent seaming it should keep its shape well.
I've got acrylic ones that would fit an average sized family in the arse region though, cheap ones from Dunnes and New Look, no matter how carefully they were washed and reshaped! Thinking of setting the sewing machine on them before I give up on them completely as they're sooo comfy to wear :)

I've never heard of Great Plains. Are they expensive? What other brand would you recommend?

I am loving the tartan trend! I always have. Delighted to see it in.

Light pink and red seem to be featuring heavily from what I've seen. As usual Zara looks to be the best collection so far "D SO much want!

Kilt style skirts are in for sure, not necessarily in tartan. I've seen a black lovely one on Asos that I want. I got one last year on Amazon, must dig it out.

Great Plains are stocked in lots of small boutiques in Co Clare where I live, and I've seen their stuff in house of fraser I think. Their quality is fantastic IMO. Already coveting one of their knit dresses this year http://www.greatplains.co.uk/product/womens+Dresses/J1AAB/Rome+Bobble+Knit+Dress.htm

Plaid seems to be creeping in alright, and the grunge trend seems to be hanging around as well. I've seen some lovely black buckled ankle boots in Penneys. Jacquard and brocade might be popular too, with statement jewellery.

All in all, I likey :P

I always groan when I see asymmetric is back in. It always dates soooo quickly.

    Me too.

I'm 29, so really need to be careful how I work it in, don't want to look like I'm trying to be 19 or something. :D

In general, I try to not follow trends, but some do tend to pique my interest, and tartan is one that does!

    Punk/Grunge is still around.
Tartan is EVERYWHERE. From the high street to designers- Saint Laurent, Mulberry, Givenchy, Versace
Chunky chains/jewellery, statement jewellery is here to stay.
    Black ankle boots- see Pennys
Leather/wet look leggings and trousers. PVC also
The red dress is predictably the 'party dress' this season

Contrasting this, pastel pink is also popular.
Think dusty pink in floaty chiffon.

Classic black is always a winter staple-
    the LBD,
    thick black tights,
    velvet,
    lace sleeves etc

As already mentioned, tartan, squares and checkers to make a bold statement are definitely Autumn's biggest print.

For the skirt, knee to calve length is the trend for this season. And also focusing on emphasising the hourglass silhouette by clinching in the waist with belts/skirts etc.

Black is also huge and showing this off is the trusty LBD (Little Black Dress), cobalt blue is probably the main colour of A/W and there's also a lot of rosy coloured tones.

As for cover ups, capes are the big one for this season. As are anything oversized such as oversized coats and blazers. Similarly the bigger and bulkier your bag is the more beautiful this season.

Bandeaus (Though who is brave enough to wear bandeaus in A/W?)
    Layering, Layering, Layering
    A 'tough' punk look
Texture is huge this season - wool, velvet, feathers, fur (fake of course)
High collars to elongate the neck.

Wear them with high waisted skirts and chunky cardis, or with a shirt.
I think when you wear them a certain way then they dont seem so revealing or such a bold choice for A/W.
