Slacks and waistcoat to wedding?

Hey guys, Have a wedding coming up in December of my girlfriends cousin. Not the full day just the evening part. Anyway I was thinking of buying slim fit navy trousers and matching waistcoat to wear. Would it look odd if I didn't have a jacket? I have a charcoal three piece suit already that I've worn a few times without the jacket and it looks good but never to something as formal as a wedding.

If you're just attending the evening then you don't really need a jacket, but tbh I wouldn't bother buyin new stuff if you have a 3 piece suit already. Just wear the trousers and waistcoat from that with a print shirt or something. Brown shoes. Sorted.

Yes that would be fine, by the time you get there most of the men will have their ties and jackets off, ou wouldn't need the waistcoat, unless you want it.

Cheers guys. I want to buy another suit anyway as I only have the one so I think I'll go ahead with the navy one I seen. I'm thinking brown shoes with it but not sure what colour shirt to go with. Any recommendations?

Well if you're buying something new make sure and buy the 3 pieces!

Definitely go with brown shoes, they look great with navy.

I'd personally go for a patterned shirt, since you're going to the evening. You could go for something in the blues:

Also nothing stopping you going for the classic open neck plain white shirt under the waistcoat. Looks great if you nail the details like cufflinks.

Cheers. Yeah, I'm definitely going to buy the full three piece but only going to wear the slacks and waistcoat to the wedding. Thanks for the links. I'm liking the look of that purple one. I'm thinking either that or white shirt with a dark red/wine narrow tie.
