Speciality cafes that use alternative coffee brewing techniques?

    Hi,

I've been away from Dublin for around two years and will be visiting in the next month. Since leaving, a lot of speciality coffee shops have opened and there's a few I'm going to try to visit, like Brother Hubbard, Clement and Pekeo, Vice, and obviously 3fe....

So I was wondering are there any of these cafes offering good filtered coffee? I know a few are doing V60 coffee, maybe aeropress coffee too, but what about a place to get syphon coffee or 24hour drip coffee? Or some other strange techniques for brewing?

Can't wait to do a tour of all the new places.

    Thanks in advance

All those you've mentioned will do filter. Aeropress & V60 are most commonly used but I thin 3FE have a batch brewer. You can also add Coffeeangel to your list, one shop on South Anne St and one on Pembroke St.

Cheers for the reply, yeah I had seen that Coffee Angel have cafe now, as opposed to the truck I used to know.

Do you know if any of them are doing syphon coffee?

I'm doing syphon at home...but no, no-one in dublin is doing it commercially, as far as I know

Wow thats strange, in Paris I'd say half of the specialty shops are offering syphon coffee. I though it'd be the same in Dublin, they look really impressive sitting on the counter I have to say

What's it like coffee-wise? I was thinking of getting one jst because they look so wonderful but is all the effort worth it?

And don't they use a tonne of coffee?

No, they use a normal amount of coffee! but they are hard, I still haven't nailed my technique, but I am close! They are very fun to play around with
