    Hey guys,

here's the deal. I worked in Ireland for roughly two years between 2010 and 2011. I left the country in December 2011, to go back to my own country.

Today I received this email from the Revenue (still not quite sure how they managed to get their hands on it)
    Dear Mr pepfcb,

Demands in the amount of EUR889,02 issued to XXX road, YYY, Dublin on (date) & (date). We do not appear to have received any response to this correspondence.

Please forward a cheque/bank draft/postal order in settlement of this amount by (date). Cheques should be made payable to the Collector General.
If the above is not your correct address please let me have same and I will re-issue the correspondence.

    Yours faithfully,

    :(

I am currently not in the financial situation of paying this back. However, I would be willing to cooperate, should they allow me a payment plan.

Also, what would be the risk of ignoring this email? I read that the Revenue could bring me to court, does that mean they could keep me at the border next time I fly to Ireland? I'm also assuming there's interest running and maybe penalties?

    Any advice welcome !

First of all make sure that the underpayment is correct. Have you claimed all the credits you are entittled to.

I would expect that revenue will agree to a payment plan

Thanks for the prompt reply Citizenpain. Yes I'd like to think that I have claimed all tax credits (I wasnt entitled to many anyway). Also, I have no access to my P45 or payslips. I just got a reply from a mate I used to play 6 a-side with. He's a tax consultant and reckons I shouldnt say anything as they won't bother with such a low amount... ?
