It's fine. I stayed there for the last 2 years. Not far from college and usually a good mixed crowd from different colleges. Apartments are fine, too. You can compare them to any other student accommodation in town. There is a bus stop right outside the complex which is handy for going into town. Security is also fine and they have a 24 hour care taker in the place.

got an e-mail this morning saying check in times are 9.30 till 3.00 monday till friday. what exactly does this mean. can u stay there on sunday nights?

Yes, but you are not only staying Sunday night right? This is a full-term accommodation place so they probably mean that you can only check-in from Monday till Friday. Once you are checked in I presume you have a key to get into your room....

Yes, of course you can stay on Sunday nights. It's like any other accommodation just that it is a purpose built student accommodation place and they only take students. Once you have your room you can stay there for the full semester or two or even longer if you want.

gateway is so much craic! theres 3 students to an apartment and with 100 odd apartments you're bound to make new friends easily! I lived here last year, moved up on a sunday night and someone had a house party on the sunday night so thats how we all got to know one another. no security on a sunday night thats how we were able to party all night. there is one security guard, hes not too bad but you normally get kicked out at about half 10 in the evenin if you're havin a prinkin sesh. They say that people arent allowed stay the night but as long as ye dont make much noise when you come back from where you are and you behave yourself then you're sorted! just a bit of advice, if you're havin drinks before you go out in your house and you are goin from block to block, its easier to use the basement than walk across the courtyard.. the security guard will get suspicious if he sees people going to the different blocks and at least if you use the basement ye'll have more time before he kicks ya out! thats really it, enjoy gateway.. the craic does be 90 and livin in ballymun is an experience anyway, be sure to check out the tesco across the road to really see what life in the mun is like! write to me if you want to know anything more about gateway/DCU. sorry for writin loads of ****e already but hopefully its of use to ye!

Just to clear it up even more, "check in" means the first day you come and get your key. They're the times the office is open. There's no staff on Sunday to give you your key.

Once you have the key, you can stay there any day of the week. No one monitors you. You give your key back at the end of the year.
