    Hi Guys,

A friend of mine is planning to gradually commute in from Navan (driving about halfway at first) to the city centre on a Boardman Team Carbon.

Currently he's sporting a front gatorskin and a rear Schwalbe lugano which is actually flaking on the inside.

I've long advertised my antipathy towards Gatorskins but he needs at least one new tyre and wasn't keen on forking out e90 for a pair of GP4seasons.

What think you gentlemen and ladies of boards410 about mixing a gatorskin with another tyre or what best tyre to replace both with.

Help me see past my Gatorskinism and be a good friend.

GP4000s. I'd have a gatorskin on the rear and a GP on the front for grip if he only wants to replace the front.

    Thanks lads,

I might give him my spare Rubino for a test ride and put the Gatorskin on the back so he can decide if he wants to pay extra or not.

Despite having a lovely bike (Boardman Team Carbon with Rival) he's not that into cycling...

I find the GP4000s great. Cycle Superstore have them in stock; two for €70, I think.

I've used GP4000S for ages on my good bikes but I'm having a bad run of luck with rips in the sidewalls. Thinking of changing now.
