    Hi

i have been using whey protein for a few years now. Recently i started to get stomach aches after taking my protein shake, i was halfway through a tub and thought maybe it was off so took it back to the shop who decently exchanged it for me for a different brand, which i have used before, but same thing severe gut ache. Not getting gut aches after meals just from shakes. I'd like to keep taking shakes as they are convenient, so my question is does anyone have any idea what i could do

    cheers Dom

What are the shakes, are they just protein or an "All in one" type protein? I've noticed aches before from creatine and all in ones tend to have creatine in them.

they're just the whey shakes, the first time was a brand that i wont mention , but i know its made specifically for this particular outlet, which i have used before without any problems, so then as i said earlier i changed it for ON Gold Standard, which i have used before, but still the gut aches.

Not really sure whats going on, i read somewhere about taking some type of stomach supplement with my shake to counteract the aches. I'm having a break from the shakes for a couple of weeks, feels like i'm missing out by not having post-workout shake.

    digestive enzymes perhaps?

But in either case, stop taking it, and go to doctor.

go to the doctor man, if you have been taking it this long without problems then it could be anything...have you changed your diet recently? taking more shake than usual or less vitamins and minerals? anyways, doctor is your best bet

    hey shane

i started having a glass of water with the juice of 1/2 a lemon 1st thing in the morning but apart from that diet the same, have stopped that for this week and will try a shake at the end of next week and see what happens.

My GP is on holidays till monday week so if it still gives me the ache will go see him

    Cheers Dom
