microsoft office registration

    every time i enter the product key in office it comes up wrong, ive had this laptop now for five years and need to use office, any idea on the best way forward, i tried contacting microsoft and they were looking for 75 euro to ask a question
    it is the 2007 home and student version on vista

    It sounds like it could already be registered, did you buy the Office licence with the laptop?

    OP, are you sure it's an Office key you're entering? If you're entering the product key on the bottom of your laptop, that's for that particular version of Windows only.

    If you have a legitimate licence for Office with the laptop, it should have a Certificate of Authenticity with your Microsoft Office version information and Product Key somewhere on the machine. If you only have a Windows CoA, you probably only had a trial version - your Windows product key is different and will not work to activate Office.

    OP, are you sure it's an Office key you're entering? If you're entering the product key on the bottom of your laptop, that's for that particular version of Windows only.

    It asked me for the product key, when I looked to see where it was, it told me to look at the sticker at the bottom, that's worn away so I used a product key finder

    This is geared towards office 2010 but the same process applies for Office 2007.

    The Office 2010 installation disc (DVD)
    The readable parts of your original product key (if available)

    If you do not have these items the customer service agent will not be able to assist in providing a replacement product key.
