UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Kampmann 2

    Main Event

Welterweight: Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann
Lightweight: Donald Cerrone vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Welterweight: Kelvin Gastelum vs. Brian Melancon
Welterweight: Court McGee vs. Robert Whittaker
Bantamweight: Takeya Mizugaki vs. Erik Perez
Middleweight: Brad Tavares vs. Robert McDaniel

    Preliminary card (Fox Sports 2)

Middleweight: Dylan Andrews vs. Papy Abedi
Welterweight: Justin Edwards vs. Brandon Thatch
Featherweight: Darren Elkins vs. Hatsu Hioki
Welterweight: James Head vs. Jason High

    Preliminary card (Facebook)

Welterweight: Zak Cummings vs. Ben Alloway
Lightweight: Roger Bowling vs. Abel Trujillo

Going by the lack of discussion here I guess no one is really that bothered with this card. In fairness, it'a bit of a nothing card overall. There's nothing that jumps out as being an important fight.

The only person I'm rooting for is Cerrone.

I think Kevin Gastelum vs. Brian Melancon is important in a way. Gastelum is coming of the supposed upset (I predicted he'd win) against Uriah Hall. The problem is he's facing the seriously powerful hands of Melancon who put Seth Baczynski's head into the mat with a serious KO. This is the second UFC bout for both of them and could be an insight into how their future careers go.

I'm looking forward to seeing Court McGee fight as I think he's very underrated. He was fairly successful at MW so his move to WW was a good move.

Condit looked really good against Hendricks - almost rejuvenated I'd say! I've never been that excited about him but I am now. If he can work on that takedown defense he's a massive threat.

    prelims about to start

    trujillo v bowling

trujillo looked good standing against khabib last time out
prices on both are around 10/11 but its trujillo for me by ko
looked dangerous against khabib in that first round before
being outclassed and smothered for two rounds

Great fight but no contest due to illegal blows to bowling late
    on in the second round
very close fight at that stage

The 2nd knee wasn't even close to being disputed. What was he thinking...

Did you watch the same fight? Thought he was awesome, still looked fresh as a daisy.

Would like to see percentage of strikes landed, must be very very high.

Kampmann got some heart though, he took a pasting and just carried on

yep Courts gas tank, given he does more work per minute than any fighter in the UFC, is off the charts. Didn't I hear he is a recovering drug addict or something and moved in with Chuck and got himself sorted... seems like he has literally put his body and soul into his conditioning which can be the ultimate playing field leveller, not that he's crap, he's not but he's not anything special in his technique yet surprisingly skillful and quick for a lanky awkward lookin fighter... just not enough sting on his strikes ...kinda like Bisping. A nightmare to fight.. you have to put him away properly or he's on you like white on rice for 3 rounds.

Condit's gas tank and precision was great but he's just not powerful enough for Georges or Rory and his style will always be too busy and too predictable. His heart is unquestionable but he simply hasn't got the umf that Rory and GSP have. Destined to be top 5 for years.

The post fight scrum was a good watch. Dana does be pretty tired and emotional so he doesnt hold back when slating people.

First question was about Conor too. Worth a watch.

    Condit is badass.

    Some brutal combos.

Wonder who's next for Condit? It could be a big step up for Matt Brown but an interesting scrap none the less. Winner of Maia vs. Shields could be another one.

Condit is in a weird position where he's lost to the top two guys in the division, but seems to be far better than anyone below him in the rankings. I reckon the winner of Lawler vs Rory would be a cracking match-up, but a bit of a long wait. Shields vs Maia winner I'm not interested in. Rematch with Diaz would be great.

Kampmann needs to learn to keep his hands up and chin tucked. Throw some head movement in too.

I can't believe someone at such a high level has such dismal striking defence. Every big hitter he's fought has carved him up. Marquardt, Daley, Hendricks and Ellenberger hit him often and easily (I know he beat Jake but Ellenberger won the first round big and made bits of kampmanns face).

He's not going get into title contention unless he patches up that giant hole in his game.
