Hi (hope this isin't in the wrong forum) I was just wondering if while driving my friends car do I still have fully comp insurance? I do have fully comp (obviously) I'm over 25 and I'm covered to drive cars that are not in my name but while doing so does my cover drop down to third party or stay the same? Thanks

    Read your policy docs.

    Read your policy docs.

Not sure where I've placed them I'll probably spend the next two hours looking for them if I have to

Usually it's third party. Ring to be sure and get clarity. It should state it in your policy documents.

I'd imagine there could be a few sneaky conditions such as that the owner of the vehicle must be present at all times etc.

I'm too young to have open driving just yet :(

It depends on your policy but generally the driving of other cars only extends to third party cover by default unless you have open drive on your policy and even that can have certain limitations. Again you need to consult your policy documents or insurance company.

Thanks, yeah I suppose I'm better off ringing them to make sure I just hope I don't have to change it over as they tend to charge fairly heavily for a short amount of time.

As said above it should state in the policy but most would only cover 3rd party also the vehicle would usually have to have up to date owner insurance also on that vehicle.

Trade insurance is great havent had to worry about this for years.

Just be wary about just ringing. You could end up talking to some complete plonker on the other end of the phone who tells you something wrong. I've talked to many in Axa over the previous week, so be warned. I wouldn't believe it unless I had it in writing.

It totally depends on the policy whether the other car needs to be insured or not. None of mine have mentioned the other car being insured
