I see the light!

I am living in a house that was refurbished a few years ago. I am renting a room that is directly above the sitting room. When I am in the en suite I can see the light from the ceiling below coming though the seam where the floor tiles and the skirting board meet. The wall that it is against does not look to be fully even to me.
Should I be worried? I really don't want to crash through the ceiling one day when the housemates are watching something downstairs.

What type of light is down stairs is it pendulum or are they spots.

The lights are fitted into the ceiling and so they don't move. nothing is shining directly on the ceiling. The gap where I can see the light coming through the floor is about a foot and a half long.

Because of the type of lights used I'd imagine that whole space is full of light. I wouldn't worry about it prob just missing a floor board or a crack in one.

Thanks. It's right beside my toilet so you know, if it did break, and it's right above the tv. Would not make for comfortable viewing.

I'm not an electrician, but from your description I would be concerned about moisture/water from the bathroom/toilet connecting with any electrics in the void below, where the light is coming from. I would have thought the bathroom should be sealed.

This had not crossed my mind. No I am worried about this.

I would suggest posting a photo or two. From your initial post it sounds like something that could be resolved with filler but photos would help with a more informed response.

I'd only be worried if your toilet is leaking.

Funny enough the toilet is not secured to the crowd properly. The more I read it sounds like Fawlty Towers!
