Reservoir Cogs are running beginner road spins in Blessington starting Sept 8.

This is an 8-week programme designed for road bike owners who can cycle c. 20km and want to learn how to ride in a group and improve stamina and distance. The focus will be on enjoyment and technique, not speed.

For more details see www.reservoircogs.ie, facebook group page or pm me.

Good idea, great way to get new riders involved anyways. I think a lot of people only beginning to cycle are probably intimidated by the idea of cycling clubs and have the notion that it involves racing and 150k spins etc.

I'd love to give this a go

Great idea. Every club in the country should be made run these spins every year. The racers who are AWOL during the summer should be leading these spins at an easy pace & sharing their knowledge. This would make up for all the volunteer time spent marshalling races during the summer & allow the racrs give something back......

I'm sure you'll have a Mr Lime's soon. Good luck with it.

No Mr Lime, I'm afraid but our regular road spin groups are "Pink" and "Blonde"

you are welcome but if you can cycle that distance, these sessions are probably not for you

i can't to the return journey in the shape i'm in and i've never gone in a group

likely detour to the coast upon completing the spin to catch the nearest dart home

on a related to note, maybe i'm better getting the dart out to bray and heading inland. i've done the city centre to blessington route through cork st -> greenhills road -> N81 and it must be one of the grimmest grimiest in existence.

    cork street. /shudders
