Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

I foolishly bought this router without realising it needs a separate modem. :(

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007W16SMO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    I have a standard 12mb eircom line.

Can you advise me a modem to buy that will work with this?
I don't really understand what I am looking for.

    Thanks
Just put your existing Eircom Modem in Bridge Mode

An ADSL (eircom line) modem will work with the router. The router connects to the modem using the RJ45 (ethernet) WAN port. Check out the modem: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002CAVRV2/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers

And dont forget if you do decide to purchase a new modem that you will need to set it up with the Eircom settings.

    Basic Modem Config:
    Username: eircom@eircom.net
    Password: broadband1
    Encapsulation: PPPoE
    Multiplexing: LLC Based
    VPI: 8
    VCI: 35

    Thanks for that.

I am still a little confused.

The modem that Noel_ags516 mentioned. Is that a modem and a router?
If not, why is it called a modem router?
If so, why do you need a separate router at all?

The modem I mentioned does not have Wi-Fi built in and 3 additional LAN ports. I have no idea why it is called a modem router. A router may usually come with Wi-Fi, 4 RJ45 LAN ports and a RJ45 WAN port. A modem router comes with RJ11 (ADSL) WAN port (which connects directly to the phone line) instead of RJ45 (Ethernet) WAN port found in routers which connects from the separate modem.
