Daily deals sites - do you buy from them?

Pigsback, Groupon, Dealrush, Livingsocial, TopDeals, etc etc etc....

I get these emails into my inbox every day.

I purchased an Educogym deal once, 4 personal training sessions, but I felt like they were trying to put me under so much pressure to sign up to a long-term programme that it really put me off purchasing these kinds of things again on these deal sites. I don't feel like being put under similar pressure again.

Have you any good / bad experiences with these deals websites?

Yeah I've gone to a lot of restaurants them, some have been fantastic deals, cheapo meals out. Half price in "The Farm" restaurant, the village and so on.

Ordered an item from Groupon as a birthday present for my brother, expected delivery date came and went, contacted Groupon and the company advertising with them, no joy from either of them. I won't be using Groupon again for that reason. Having said that, a friend has ordered (and received!) several items from them so obviously my experience wasn't the norm, but 'once bitten' and all that

For things like hotels/salons, contact them directly and offer the deal site price and they'll often match it and occasionally beat it - they're losing commission to said deal site in the process.

You'll usually be treated better having booked it that way than turning up with the voucher too.

Yeah as for myself I have been using those sites zillion of times. Sometimes good sometimes bad experiences. If I use them to go to restaurants/hotels I make sure to check tripadvisor/menupages for the reviews and that actually helps to save some time and make sure that the experience would be fine. The items I've bought from the daily deal sites in more than 50% of cases were not of a very high quality..

Na, don't use them. I try to avoid middlemen as much as possible.
