The 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Does is qualify as Crew Cab? (As in, have anyone done it already?)

Any jobs that need to be done to a standard UK spec Grand Cherokee to get it to qualify? (firewall etc.)

Doing the numbers myself it looks like it should juuust scrape by as a crew cab.

    thanks!

We had a commercial version 2007 one. I have never seen a crew cab one. I think there has to be a certain percent of the overall vehicle space load space ie rear boot. I don't think the grand Cherokee would have the right space if it did I'm sure we would see alot more of them as crewcabs. You could always convert it to a commercial but you would loose the rear seats.

There are new regulations for crewcabs these days now, no idea what they are but it means the likes of the 5 seat discovery now exist.

    I tried with a 2001 version
Staff in Motor tax office where ok with it , ask I get it weighted at approvred weigh bridge and get it doe tested.

None of the centres would Doe test it.
All had a different reason cargo area not big enough was the general opinion.

One with a gleam in his eye thought I should by a crappy kia MPV. When ever I feel NCT is not perfect I remind myself how dodgy these DOE places are.

Everything completed including form stamped in garda station that only be used commercially
Weight in official approved weighbridge (roadstone off nass road)
Staff in clondalkin motor tax came out and looked at jeep. As i was keeping back seats i applied for crew cab. Said only thing left now was doe.

Unfortunately no DOE centre would do it.
As I said previously they all had their own version of why cargo area was not big enough from 60/40 rule of lenght of vehicle to cargo area, cargo area must be bigger than rear passanger area. One even told me the cargo area must be 60% + of vehicle lenght. Anyway the general verdict was cargo area wasn't big enough even if there appeared to be no standard way of measuring it.

I was told if I rip out my rear leather sears weld up the anchor points for seat belts and making it more van like that they would test it.

    Ok, perfect!

As far as I could make out with the new crew cab regulations the grand cherokee should pass. And if Revenue OK'd it then it's a pass.

I will ask my DOE guy about it so if that's the only hurdle.

Let us know how you get on as private tax of 1800 is beyond silly .
