I'm just wondering is it still possible to take a major/minor in Arts rather than a joint major? I emailed the programme office and all I got in the reply was all stage 2 students must register to a joint major. I've tried ringing the programme office as well, but no answer.

Are you incoming or going into stage two? If you are incoming you don't make the major/minor choice until stage 2. Otherwise its the program office you will have to see if you can't make the change in SIS

I'm going into stage two this semester. I can't change it on SIS, it says I'm doing a joint major.

Last year the setting was there for you to change it. Keep harassing the office or try call in. Contact the schools your are in too and see what they suggest. Better if you can call in cos its harder to ignore a person than a phone or email. Try the student desk too. Might as well cover all the options rather than do it one by one.

Thanks a million. It says on SIS web that major/minor combinations are not available, but I'm pretty sure that last year we were told in a lecture that we could choose a major/minor. I'll try and contact the schools and find out more.

Good luck on getting it sorted. I'm doing major/minor and many a day I'd love to ditch the minor!

Have you not gotten the emails about it? Pretty sure I got loads, I'm doing a joint major so I disregarded them but I think we just have to decide later in 2nd year so people won't regret it or something.

I was curious about this so I took a look... and it looks like the Major/Minor option is gone. This link shows that the option is not available for those in Stage 2 during the 2014-15 year.

Also this page here shows text under the Major/Minor option saying this:
Please note that this degree concentration will no longer be offered to students entering Stage 2 from 2013-2014 onwards.

Sorry Katie, but it looks like its a Joint Major for you.

Balls, this isn't looking good for me. I'll still give the programme office a ring and see what the story is. Thanks for the links I couldn't find any other info before this :)

I don't do Arts, but getting rid of the more customisable things about what you can do annoys me.
It's like when there's a series of computer games, and the sequel removes features of the first one, and you're like "but you got it right that time..!"
