Increments Question

    Hi all,

I, luckily, recently started a new job. Absolutely delighted that I have it, and really looking forward to sinking my teeth into.

However a phone call yesterday really put a dampener on it. I qualified from my PGDE two years ago, and went to London in September for it. I then secured a job following a February retirement back in Ireland, with a VEC school. Then, last year I did the whole school year as a Part-Time worker, with timetabled classes that I had for the year, and a lot of cover.

Now, the VEC that I worked with last year and who I asked to fill out a Statement of Service for my new job, has told me that I am on point 3 of the salary scale, even though I haven't missed a days teaching in two years!

For my year in London, I filled out the Incremental Credit sheet from the DOE's website and sent it on - I was told that there was no record of that.

For last year, and this one really stung, I had done 598 hours and 40 minutes in the school teaching - apparently one needs 600 to claim a credit.

To top it all off, after previously being told that I qualified for my Masters allowance during the year, I was also informed that this is no longer the case.

So frustrating - in the space of a phone call, I was down about 6 grand to what I thought I was.

Anyway, apologies for the rant....but my question is, if I complete an hour and twenty minutes in my new position as a career break contract (which I would have already), can I claim an incremental credit?

    Thanks for reading

I'm not sure about the detail in your post but all increments are currently frozen under the FEMPI legislation-no ones getting one.

Forgetting about Fempi, hours from more than one year can be combined to get an increment
