Uneven floors - any advice for tiling

I want to have some ceramic tiles laid but when I took up the old tiles the floors aren't in great shape. They look more like sub-floors. So I got a guy to call out from a floor leveling company but he pointed out that the floors aren't level - there's almost a 35mm drop from the kitchen to the front door along the hallway, so a liquid leveling compound would just flow out my front door !. So I need to figure out how I am going to maybe live with the fact the floors aren't level, just try to get them flat for tiles. Any suggestions on the best way to do this ?. My tiler has recommended a product from Kilsaran (alpha hydrate or something like that) so they are calling next week for a chat.
