    Hi there,
My OH was due to collect his JA from P.O. last week but instead fell seriously ill and is now in hospital. Can you tell me if I ring the Dept of Social Prot, and explain what happened will they send out this payment by cheque?

Also it looks like he is going to be in hospital for a few weeks even maybe months he will not be eligible for JA, therefore I want to find out how he goes about applying for Illness or Disability Allowance. He memory has been badly affected, he cant remember anything hes been told after about 10 mins, so I want to try and do as much as I can. Would anyone here be able to tell me the steps I should take. Many thanks. Suz

As he is in hospital he can't claim JA. He can apply for disability Benefit, has he worked in 2011? If he has no entitlement to DB the usual option is to be paid by the CWO but they do not pay while you are in hospital. He could apply for DA.
Are you working? Was he claiming for you both? If that's the case you could make a claim for JA for both of you and the CWO would pay you will the claim is pending.
