playing videos, app required?

Trying to play some online videos on a Lumia 520, but i get a message keep coming up that an app is required. strange thing is these videos played perfect in my 7.5 titan with no problems and didnt need an app.

can you send a link to the videos ? Videos play for me in the built-in video player, I can't remember having a problem

They are videos recorded from my wifes phone she sends me via email. They play no problem in my old Titan windows 7.5, but the nokia windows 8, they wont play at all. Also some videos on websites wont play either, same message comes up about needing an app.
