    Right,

I've been offered one of these with a FSH and 85k miles up.

    It's a Golf GT 2.0 TDI DSG with 140bhp.

What are they like on fuel and reliability wise?

I've had the worst of what VW's can throw at me in the past so any advice appreciated.

How much? Is it an import?

Older PD engines, make of that what you will. DSG should have been serviced twice in that time.

They are a good car. That particular version of the 2.0TDI PD is about the best of them. No balance shaft to worry about.

It's a UK import which comes with a FSH, new NCT, new tyres lots of extras including a leather interior and climate control. It's a GT version.

It currently has 85k miles and had a new t/belt kit at 72k.

    The price is €8k.

MC I'll have to ask about the DSG box being serviced. I didn't specify it when I asked about the service history.

Sounds a nice car tbh if it checks out alright. Rare to get a properly specced onto around here too.

I'll have a think about it. I hadn't planned on changing but it does sound like it worth checking out a bit more.

I'll have to sell my own though which currently needs it's new brake discs fitting as I've been lazy and not organised it. :o

its a vw ;). plus its one year shy of the low rate road tax. 700+a year to tax, keep it for 3 years thats over two grand before u drive it an inch, plus MASSIVE depreciation!!!!!!!and its an import. resale value will be zero.

I think you are getting confused here. Either that or you are trolling.

Older diesel Golfs are still making stupid money. We got €6250 for a 2005 1.9TDI Comfortline a couple of months back. Makes this one look like great value!

Didn't your (two) previous VWs blow up on you? I guess that you'll have had all the bad luck you could have had by now. I'm surprised it"s 10 posts in and no one has said that UK cars are all corroded. ;-)

Sounds good, but run a data check.
