Cost of Eating/Drinking in Lagos, Portugal

    Hi folks,

Can anyone who has been to Lagos advise on the rough cost of food and drink?

I'm heading off with herself on Thursday for eight days but have been hit for a number of things over the last week (always the way) so don't have as much money available as I would like.

Would €500 cover two people for eight days? Not into madly expensive restaurants or drinking all day or night.

    Thanks

Love Lagos - we're heading there for our third visit this Sunday!

Are you self-catering? If so, there are plenty of supermarkets and minimarkets where you can pick up groceries for breakfast and lunch quite cheaply. Beer and wine are very good value too.

There are restaurants for every pocket in the town so I'd imagine you'll be fine on that budget. Have a great time.

Yes staying in self-catering apartment, Porta de Ville. Never been before but looking forward to it. It is a good sign that you are heading back for the third time, always a good indicator of somewhere nice.

    Enjoy your holiday.

Looking at Lagos as a potential family holiday destination for next year, can you tell me what you like / don't like.

Don't fancy Albufeira, Vilamoura and worried that Alvor may be too quiet although not looking for anything mad,

Lagos just has a good mix for us. It's got a nice town centre, with some older buildings and the city walls still stand in spots so there is a very pleasant atmosphere around the place. There are a lot less of the high-rise apartments that some of the other resorts have. Great restaurants, regarding bars it's a bit of a mixed bag. There is something of a backpacker scene there thanks to the surfing beaches nearby so there are some of those very small, very noisy bars that seem to pop up in resorts in southern Europe but they're generally confined to one or two streets. There are plenty of other places for a few quiet drinks. The town also has a nice marina for dolphin watching and other excursions. Lots of very nice beaches and a zoo just outside the town as well, so overall it's pretty good for a family holiday.

We've always got good value in apartments and flights, so that helps too!

Thanks for that, Apartments I was half looking at down around the Marina were +800 sterling a week which I thought was a bit saucy, any recommendations?
Need a 2 bed, nice pool area & 10-15min walk to beach & town, not much I know :D

We stayed at Vilabranca apartments. They'd be about a 15 minute walk from the town centre and beaches, not as handy as the apartments around the marina, but an easy walk. It's a quiet complex, and the apartments are clean and surprisingly big, I think they have two-beds as well.
