Why do/did you want to be a healthcare professional?

It may sound a little weird but I am just curious about people's reasons to become nurses/midwives/ hca's etc? I never wanted to be a nurse in school hit after having a few spells in hospital over the last year I have seen it in a different light. What inspires me is the work ethic, team playing and caring toward others. It seems like such a rewarding profession. I know its not all brilliant and very hard though. Are they daft reasons?

What were your reasons for becoming a healthcare professional?

Absolutely not daft! I suspect many of those in the profession have similar reasons.

I enjoy the patient interaction, the variety, I'm interested in science and scientific principles. I also enjoy learning and picking up new nuggets of information most days I go into work. As you say it's not all rosy but can't think of another job I'd enjoy more.
