VARIREC and car CD players

Since getting my current car with it's OEM CD player (as opposed to an aftermarket one), I was never able to play any backup audio CDs I had without them skipping. The key benefit to the backups was that I could throw them into a cheap case and not care about them being scratched, as opposed to having each their own case to prevent scratching.

However, I read that if I burnt the CD at x4 speed, with VARIREC at minus two, the CD wouldn't skip. So tried it there last night, and so far, the music CD plays without skipping.

Thought I'd start a thread here to see if this works for other people.

FYI, I'm using a Plextor CD/DVD writer, and Nero to write the CD's. The CD's are your usual super-cheap budget 100 for a tenner CD's.

Can't say for car radios in particular, but certainly from my DJing experience, cheaper CD's burnt at a high rate are a recipe for skipping. That said I've fitted an Aux to every car that didn't have one merely for the convenience of using an iPhone / iPod.
