As far as I know radio stations have to give a certain amount of time every week to specialist output which is probably of extremely limited appeal so maybe they do it at this time to minimize any listener loss

A couple of years ago there was a great show on a Sunday evening called The River of Soul – played soul, gospel, blues all that kind of stuff. Really top class. Since that finished I’ve rarely had my radio on on a Sunday night.

Sunday evening is the offest of off peak times as regards listeners and hence ad revenue. Any minority interest shows tend to be aired at these times as listeners aren't being lost to any degree. Occasionally the shows going out on Sunday night can even bump up the JNLR numbers a little for these times or it can gain some cult appeal, the South Wind Blows being a good example of this.

That was a great show - done by a guy called Karl Tsigdinos who is (was?) also a motoring journalist

And when would they run repeats of Liveline and Derek Mooney if they did that? :)

I generally listen to Colm O'Sullivan on Sunday evenings if I'm in a car. Good mix of music IMO.

There's a blues show on DublinCityFm on Sunday night from 10 to midnight followed by Little Stevens Underground Garage and if you like soul the same station (my fave) has 2 shows Sat evening 6 to 7.30 and Thursday 10 to 11pm

Agree! Really love the mix - also, a very calming voice (which helps!) :D

I always enjoy 'South Wind Blows' - I wish it was on for longer. Philip King always sounds as if he has just broken into the studio and is secretly broadcasting against RTE's wishes :D

Cormac Battle on 2fm seems to play the same two records every week - 'Cannonball' by The Breeders and 'Devils Haircut' by Beck. It could be a better show if they stretch the playlist a bit.

I wish that guy broadcasting from Dingle on Sunday evening , I think the show is called ' The rolling wave ' would stop pretending he's broadcasting from a lighthouse a thousand miles of the southwest coast with the wind blowing and waves crashing , we've all been to dingle , it's not different from any where else , he is In this mindset that anything in the west is more culturally advanced than the rest of the country , a bit like that ' Galway arts festival/ macnas shower' , lets dress up in papier mâché masks and lord it over the rest of you !
