    Interesting.
Not directly related I grant you but, It always struck me why Mount Etna, being one of the most active volcanoes in the world never seems to disrupt air travel in the Mediterranean and yet Eyjafjallajökull managed to ground the whole of Europe back in 2010.

    This too shall pass.

Really all depends on the nature of the material being spewed out to the volcano, how high the material gets and how far it travels. Mt Etna and Eyjafjallajökull are/were different beasts!

Because a handful of small-minded people full of their own self-importance and sitting playing with their toy computer simulations managed to convince the European authorities that the skies were covered in ash from Iceland to North Africa. It took brave Willie Walsh to show them up for what they were. None of these loonies was ever held to account for the billions they cost airlines, airports and the flying public.
