Second Year Entrance Exhibitions and Book Prizes

Hey, this question has been asked before, but not in a long while and never really conclusively, so I thought I'd ask again for the new year.

How do those of us in our second year get our next Entrance Exhibition award? I've heard that we may have to pick it up in an office, unlike in first year.

Also, I've heard that there are small prizes for getting firsts. This page says something about €12? I assume this is per subject you got a first in, not for your overall average, but could someone with experience please confirm? (And how is this one received also?)

    Thanks!

Well going by last year it was about €12 if you got a first overall. Twas a bit more back in the Celtic Tiger era I think but now they've tightened it up. Though I wouldn't be forming a queue as the exams office isn't particularly known for its prowess in administration. Think you could just walk in and pick them up sometime around November last year. So it could be something similar this year. Probably best going in and asking the people cause that's how we found out last year I think.

For TSM I think you get half the regular amount if ,say, you got a first in one of your subjects. Not too sure though

You get them in the post, I wouldn't hold my breath.

If this were the 17th century, we'd get, like, 1000 euro

The book tokens for getting a first used to come in the post (and they used to be in the region of €30), but I think as of last year they both cut them and stopped sending them out automatically. You have to go somewhere to collect them now, otherwise you don't get 'em. (Unless they send them out to Freshmen but not Sophisters, or something - you don't get one at all in fourth year, I know that much).

Depending on your department/year coordinator, you may get an email when they become available.

I remember they had to be collected last year from the office (exams office I think, could now be the Academic Registry).
