Does anyone know of a fairly secluded lookout spot in south dublin/wicklow that would have a good view of dublin?

For South Dublin / North Wicklow, the best option is Carrickgollogan

Access is from Murphy's Lane here: http://goo.gl/maps/zdB1a

A panorama photo I took from the top - a bit of a dull day unfortunately

+1 for killiney hill, up at the obelisk is probably the best but there are several good spots

I'd recommend Three Rock in Ticknock. Fantastic views over the city although you will have to walk the last 20 minutes to get there.

It has to be mountpellier for the whole city north to south.

Agreed - Mountpellier/Hell fire club has to offer the best view of Dublin at any time of the day or night. Unfortunately it is not very secluded - you might get a quiet night to yourself or you might be sharing the night view with a half dozen skanger cider parties.
