Dublin unattached runner

Do clubs actively recruit people to run with them ?

I have been looking through results pages and an unfamiliar name of an unattached runner comes up. This person having run their first competitive race only 3 months ago is now running seriously good times. I think they should really be approached by a Dublin club (as they are based their) to join as their times show some serious potential with knocking 3 mins off their 10k time in the same period.

As I don't think it's fair to talk about random individuals in an open forum I will only respond to PMs regarding who this person it from someone who is an position to approach this person for the good of the sport.

    Thank you

If its the same person , I fbook that same person on saturday night as i had seen the runner in the 10 miler on sat morning , and i did advise them to join a club. Possible serious conflict with GAA though (inter county level)

One club approaches people in a Dublin park. Allegedly. :pac:

    Really?

I'd have been surprised if an intercounty level Football player could reach top class distance running times given the muscle mass those guys need.

Hurling a different story, you can get away with a lighter frame.

From my experience, clubs are always looking to recruit new members - not just top quality runners but anyone who wants to run. I have done "sales pitches" to numerous people at races and elsewhere. Clubs are welcoming and inclusive organisations. Interestingly, two good masters runners have told me several times that, for various reasons, they are not interested in joining any club. One of them won his age category in a good quality race recently. I will try again the next time I see him.
