It seems that Tommy Morrison is on the way out.
The Duke may not have made it as an ATG heavyweight but he certainly did treat us to many a great knockout.
I hope he finds peace in his final days.

I followed most his career before he was known at all and I loved watching him, hopefully hod last days are as easy as can be, I don't believe in anything after death so that's the best I can hope for.

    Sad to see.

I hope he isn't suffering too badly.

He was an incredibly exciting fighter. You just couldn't take your eyes off the ring when he was in it.

Sad news, hope he can be kept as comfortable as possible, had one of the best 80's nicknames ever in the Rocky film, Tommy "The Machine" Gunn :)

Very exciting fighter in the ring

Was a good fighter but he wanted to fight with aids which is disgraceful, there were some issues with him saying he didn't have it but official tests saying he did, that type of carry on was a disgrace and endangered other fighters - had no respect for the man after that.

Sad to hear he died though

Actually he was quite deluded and did not think he had aids at all.

You still can't fight with HIV, He genuinely thought that HIV/Aids was a conspiracy and that he was not sick.

Not contesting the fact he should'nt have been allowed to fight, its a common misconception that HIV and AIDS are the same thing when they are not.

If people are going to bring it up then they can at least get it right.

Well getting diagnosed with HIV does not mean it had not become AIDS.
It's pure speculation at this point and pedantic to say the least.

Big whoop. You think he should have been allowed fight with it?

A decent highlight reel here of some of his KO's. His mobility was very impressive for a heavyweight. Had a devastating left hook, and could mix it up to the body as well.

AIDS is end-stage HIV. Morrison was diagnosed with HIV, and now apparently is on his death bed, and thus has end-stage HIV, which is AIDS. QED.

EDIT: but for fighting purposes, no he shouldn't have been allowed to fight. The chances are minimal an opponent would have contracted HIV, but it still warrants a ban obviously.

He went from headlining in las vegas to sitting bankrupt and hiv positive in a prison cell. The stuff about his denial of the disease probably says a lot about his mental state.
His fights with joe hipp and razor ruddock were my favourites. His best performance was against george foreman. Watching him lose to lennox lewis was awful. My first hero in boxing and one the great left hooks.

    RIP Tommy Morrison.

Such a sad end to a promising career, I thought at the time that vicious ko loss to Mercer would be hard to come back from but come back he did, won 10 straight fights including a clear win over a Foreman who won the belt a year later. If the fight against Tyson had taken place it would have been HUGE.
