    Hi,
We are seriously considering of getting rid of Sky, our current set up is as follows:

    One Sky+ HD box
    One Sky+ Box
    Multi-room.

Would it be possible for someone to provide to a ladybird guide!! on what we would need to do to replace SKY and still have the same set up.
Can we use the existing SKY boxes?
We would only need the recording capability in one room.

    Thanks in advance

No recording outside of subscription unfortunately.

+1 on interest in this. Have tried Netflix but not willing to keep paying for it monthly

The Sky boxes can be reused after you cancel your Sky sub but recording is disabled and you'll no longer have access to the Irish channels via Sky. Remove the Sky card from the box to see what channels you'll have access to if/when you cancel.

Do you have an aerial and Saorview TV or Saorview box for the Irish channels once you cancel?

There is no easy one box solution to replace the convenience of Sky.

A 2 box solution, Saorview+ (Irish channels) and Freesat+ (UK channels) PVRs get closest with series link, 7 day programme guide, built in HDD, digital text, watch one/record one or record two/playback one etc.

The Freesat+ receiver will use the same cabling and dish. The Saorview+ PVR requires an aerial.

Saorview+ PVR (only 1 official Saorview PVR on the market)

    Freesat+ PVR
http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/ (rh column) - the Manhattan Plaza HDR-S and other Freesat+ PVRs start about £150

Switching to Saorview information here - http://www.saorview.ie/what-is-saorview/make-the-switch/

A combi receiver (satellite/terrestrial) could be used in the other room or the Sky sub-free box in conjunction with a Saorview box or TV.
