    Hi everybody,
I'm going into first year arts in September and I'm doing the joint honours.
I will study Spanish and History and hopefully English too,But I'm considering doing a fourth subject too rather than electives so that I have more options to choose from to see what I like before I drop down to two subjects for second year.
So I'm wondering if there are any arts students here in second year or any in first and what do they think,am I better off doing 3 subjects and some electives or is doing 4 subjects a good idea?
Any advice or speculation from current arts students or incoming first years is welcome,

    Thanks guys!

Be aware that a certain number of credits may have to be taken (mandatory) for a particular subject to be chosen. You may need two modules (generally 10 credits) from a subject to choose it, for instance.

Also you should be aware that certain subjects may demand a certain number of modules be taken in order to be able to progress in that subject to second level.

You can get some feel for that online, but the only definitive answers you are going to get will be from the Arts Programme Office.

Max different subjects you can take is 6 (in DN500 - BA Joint Arts). So Spanish, History and English will use 3, but there is an additional module 1st years have to take in Humanities so you'd be up to 4.

Just as a side note, unless English is something you plan on taking in 2nd year, I'd avoid it as it can get very intensive and can eat up a lot of time. History is also an intensive subject so combined with English it might make the workload pretty heavy.
