Best *console* gaming monitor?

Since consoles wont go above 1080p i think we can throw out the higher end displays that have WQHD etc. Sticking with 1920x1080....and considering price/perforamce ratio, at or above 24"......which one would be the best?

I have a TN BenQ....ghosty but still decent enough under Movie mode. With next gen i am thinking of upgrading, any thoughts?

What's your budget?

Also, will you be upgrading to the newer consoles when they come out?

Budget is your big thing here. 1080p is fine, despite 1920x1200 being considered superior by many, the economics of being able to use similar panels to TV manufactures wins out. There is no shortage of good 1080p monitors, what there is though is a wide range of different bells and whistles that invariably cost money. Do you want low response time? How low exactly? Do you care about high quality colour reproduction? What about viewing angles? Etc.

I have the previous model which is class, display is lovely. The stand is pretty **** though, quite wobbly but not in danger of falling over under normal conditions.

Handy, frees up all the desk space under the monitor and it can be folded back against the wall when not in use. Also consider the Dell HM range, same panels, slightly better build quality and stand, a bit more expensive.

Also, note ips panels are supposed to have a slower response time, but i haven't noticed any ghosting, and its looking more like the next gen are at a max going to be doing 60 FPS so its not really an issue i would imagine
