Macbook died

    Hi all,

    I have a problem. My macbook died. I brought it to a few repair places and they all said the same thing: logic board, keyboard, DC board all needing replacing. The best value quote I got was for e800 to fix it - not really economically viable when the machine cost just a bit more than that many years ago.

    My question. I didn't have it backed up (I know) and I had some data on it that I needed urgently so I took out the hard drive and used a hard drive reader to access the data. I think I have everything, but I still have the hard drive.

    I am saving to buy a new computer, most likely macbook pro again but is it possible to just import everything into the new computer when I just have the hard drive?

    I have some software on the old one that I use for work. I also have my entire itunes library on it and would like to be able to sync my iphone and ipad, particularly as the iphone is also on the way out.

    Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

    I believe there was a similar story not so long ago..

    best way forward..

    1.Get an external usb hard drive caddy - stick your old hard drive in this fellow

    2. When you get your new mac, use Migration Assistant to transfer ALL data from your usb caddy.
