Anything's possible if you throw enough money/effort at it. realistically though you can pick up complete diesel ones newer with nct for €1k.

Hi thanks for reply but money isn't there unfotunatly and its a case of pick up a diesel engine ,and she is100% other wise I got her off a mate he only just took it off the road 2wks ago and he just got a newer diesel one so he gave me the old one' to do up for myself, and I,d rather replace the petrol engine with a diesel one ' as it would be cheaper in to long term and I would be doin a fair bit of miliage

I wouldn't count on an old tech diesel being great mpg wise. If keeping it, I'd be inclined to just put a like for like petrol engine in.

If you're not much of a mechanic then a like for like engine swap will be enough work for you.

There is often a lot more to an engine swap.
This isn't specific but more general advice.

The wiring loom is different as is the engine management computer.

Little things like having glow plug indicater on dash. Petrol filling hose to tank is narrower than diesel. Im not sure in your model but often the gearbox and exhaust are different. As is the fuel pumps...

It would be cheaper to pick up a diesel jeep than convert one.

It has been done but usually by off-roaders who are expert bodgers and spanner wielders! Like others have said I'd put another petrol in or buy another diesel one.
