I think I've finally overcome my GAS. I've everything I want in terms of gear and can't think of anything that I could really want. Have you reached that point or what do you need to leave you GAS free.....?

What are you currently rocking? I'm pretty much GAS free. In fact, I really need to move some stuff along so that I can make space for myself at home.

Your GAS has probably gone into remission, and may remain so for months, years even. However it will inevitably flare up again, necessitating agressive guitar-oriented therapy.

I've gone through a ton of gear in the last few years, trading on Adverts and buying through e-bay in the States, but I think it boils down to knowing what I like and don't like.

I now know what I like, and it comes down to the classics, Lester, Strats, Tele.............and I've a Variax that I really love. It's also about individual guitars, I've found the right one's for me, right neck shape, sound etc. The other thing I've found is that the one's I want to keep are the one's I could look at all day.

Likewise with pedals and amps, suppose what I'm trying to say is that it's very satisfying to have and bond with gear that enhances the experience of playing an instrument !

I must take a family shot some time soon.

My current inventory of guitars is:
    Gretsch G6118 Anniversary,
    Gibson Robby Krieger SG,
    G&L ASAT Junior II,
    G&L ASAT Special,
    G&L Legacy,
    Heritage H157.

I really think I have anti-Gas. I have far too many guitars for my meager talent to justify.

Likewise. I'm thinking of putting a few into storage.

I reckon once I finish my Bass rack, get a few 4ohm cabs, get a couple six-string basses, fretless and fretted, and a few effects pedals and a nice DI.....

...I'll then focus on guitar gear. :P

My GAS will never disappear! ;D

Nope. There's always something. I like having them around. Even if I don't play a guitar for months, I don't feel I have no bond with it. It's nice to plug it in and remember why you liked it in the first place. And there's always some tone you can't quite nail. Be it a Rickenbacker through a Vox, a Strat through a Twin or a Les Paul through a Marshall. Might be a Tele through a Leslie. There's always something.

Yeeesh. At the height of the madness I had.

    Tokai Jap Les Paul

    Fender Custom Players Strat

    Gibson Sg

    Gibson Studio Les Paul

    US Telecaster

    Jap Squier Telecaster

Fender US Highway 1 Strat with Humbucker in Bridge

    Gretsch Pro Jet

with a Tanglewood and Garrisson Acoustic for the mellower moments.

Sold it all except the Highway 1 Strat and the Garrison Acoustic. Honestly life is much less complicated these days. As much as I miss the dynamics of different sounds, I didn't really need them so I made a decision and no regrets.

I've been struggling to even pick up a guitar lately, I seem to have lost interest in it for a while. Definitely still want a few bits like the squier bass vi, but can't be bothered to spend money on something I probably won't use.

Need to get out of this funk, to play some funk.

even the rich and famous never seem to lose the GAS, i believe phil collen of leppard has over 170 Jacksons alone!!!

If i won euro millions i reckon the collection would get silly in no time.

It really is only lack of disposable funds that prevents me spending on gear.

LOVE gear, barely play but love gear.

You took the words out of my mouth. Its fine if your a pro musician but for the rest of us a few guitars/amps/effects is fine. Doesn't stop me wanting to buy everything I see though. Just had a clear out so lets see how long it takes to get ridiculous again!

i think banning yourself from adverts.ie would be a good start but i'm addicted sadly.......

    Adverts.ie is a blessing/curse.

I'm finally settling on a pedal board I'm happy with, but there's always something I have my eye on.

I had a clear out of guitars at the start of the summer and pooled it all to buy one decent (for me) guitar. Of course I had to keep my first ever guitar. And the strat I like. And my old acoustic. So basically after a clearout I still find myself with four guitars, but I'm happy with what I have now.
