Hi - I'm looking for an estate on a limited budget - 5k plus trade in of a 2004 Volvo S60.

my interest so far has been in 2004-2005 merc E200 estate or Volvo XC90, until I saw this:

    2008 Saab 9-3 estate:

the fact that its a 2008 is very attractive but:

any opinions/ experience of these cars out there?

How put off should I be that Saab are no longer in business?

cheers all - all advice gratefully accepted,

    les

That's a petrol, so not entirely sure why 2008 is such an advantage. It's crazy money anyway. You'd surely get a 2008 diesel for that?

Or else just buy my 9-3 in my sig. :)

Parts are not a problem. Nearly the whole of the 9-3 shares parts with the Vectra.

That is one off the reasons i would not touch a saab as it is only a opel with a saab badge . buy a opel or wait for some other car manufacture to revive the saab brand & do it right . If you watched wheeler dealers you would know it suffers from a weak bulkhead along with other problems.

If you watched Wheeler Dealers you'd know it was the previous generation 93 that had bulkhead issues.

And if you were really keeping up you'd know that Saab are cranking up the production line in September under the direction of their new owners.

It looks a nice car and looks decent enough but i'm not sure on the fuel/mpg, if your happy enough with that i'd say it would be an ok buy as long as you plan on keeping it a good few years.
changing it to soon might be a problem but in another few years it wont really matter

30mpg for the 1.8t Linear auto sports wagon (i.e. estate).

Thanks all for the advice so far, it's very helpful - yes, plan would be to keep it for a few years

Excuse my ignorance but what's the likely mpg for my current 2004 Volvo S60 2.0T?
